Privacy Policy

Compare Pryce ("we", "us", "our") is an Australian price-comparison service for grocery products. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and disclose it, and how you can access, correct, or request deletion of your information.

The app requests camera access solely to scan product barcodes. No images or video are stored or transmitted to our servers. Barcode detection happens on your device.

4. Disclosure to Third Parties

We use the following third-party services to operate Compare Pryce. Each provider acts as a data processor on our behalf. Where data is transferred overseas (all providers below are headquartered in the United States), we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected to a standard comparable to the Australian Privacy Act, however we note that Australian Privacy Act protections may not apply equally in those jurisdictions.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored by Supabase on servers located in the United States. Product and price data is stored by CockroachDB on servers that may be located in the United States or other jurisdictions.

We implement reasonable technical measures including:

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and favourites for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Server logs held by Cloudflare are retained according to Cloudflare's own data retention schedules.

7. Your Rights Under the Australian Privacy Act

Complaints to the OAIC: If you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy complaint, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.

8. Camera and Device Permissions

The app requests the following device permissions:

You may revoke camera permission at any time in your device settings. Revoking camera access will disable the barcode scanning feature but all other features will continue to work.

9. Children's Privacy

Compare Pryce is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of Compare Pryce after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
